Sailing Team Building is a unique experience that will allow you to work together as a team to navigate the waters and overcome challenges in a dynamic and stimulating environment. During this activity, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing, develop communication skills, improve collaboration, and enhance leadership.
Sailing: participants board 8-10-seater sailboats helmed by professional skippers and learn fundamental sailing maneuvers. The activity unfolds in three phases: on-shore technical briefing covering knots, terminology, and safety (20-30 min), sailing training with role rotation — helmsman, bowman, trimmer, tailer (60-120 min), and competitive final regatta with awards (30-60 min). Total duration: 2-4 hours (ideal 2.5 hours). Departure from a marina. Motorized support boat always present for safety. Option for lunch on board or at a restaurant. Indoor backup plan in case of bad weather.
Sailing has a medium training level with a strong experiential component. Key skills stimulated include: coordination and synchronization (every sailing maneuver requires simultaneous crew action), adaptability and flexibility (role rotation forces participants out of their comfort zone), empathy and role understanding (experiencing all positions develops appreciation for each person’s contribution), situational leadership (each role on board requires a different type of guidance), and managing uncertainty (navigating in changing conditions trains rapid decision-making). The boat-as-company metaphor is immediate and powerful for executive boards and small groups.
