City PacMan

A race against time where teams, armed with tablets, move physically through the city to ‘eat’ virtual dots on the map. Avoid ghosts, reach iconic locations for extra points, and monitor opponents in real time to win.

City PacMan: participants, divided into teams of 4-8, physically race through city streets equipped with GPS-enabled Android tablets with data connectivity to collect virtual dots on a geo-referenced map. The activity includes three phases: briefing with tablet distribution and rules explanation (15-20 min), strategic city race with point collection, landmark bonuses, and real-time opponent tracking (40-80 min), digital leaderboard and awards (10-15 min). Total duration: 1-2 hours (ideal 1.5 hours). Outdoor activity in the city centre, managed entirely remotely via proprietary software. Includes rain insurance with option to switch indoor (2 days’ notice). Tablets with Vodafone data connection included, provided by our staff.

City PacMan develops competencies with a profile oriented towards strategy and rapid decision-making. Key skills developed include: real-time strategy and planning (analysing map, ghosts, and opponents while constantly adapting), rapid decision-making (instant assessments on risk vs. point consolidation), time management (maximising points within limited time), collaboration under pressure (physical coordination on direction, pace, and strategy), spatial orientation (translating GPS maps into physical decisions). A format that reveals team decision-making dynamics under competitive pressure. Our facilitators conduct a debrief analysing strategic choices under stress and connecting them to everyday workplace dynamics.
